Voila - Barbara Pravi

Voila! The year was 2021, Maneskin was doing some weird white powdery stuff and whatever the hell rock things they do, and won that year. But on 2nd place came this gem: Voila!

The submission from France, it's about as French as it can be. And while my French isn't that great, I understand enough to be able to let it move me. It's amazing how a solo vocal performance can move so many people.

France is one of the 'big 5', meaning they pay enough money to the Eurovision Broadcast Network to not have to go through the semi-finals, but I think that hurts their chances of winning as we (the audience) don't get the chance to listen to it multiple times. Ok, they changed that, and they let the big 5 perform in the semi-finals, but it still feels different as there are no stakes involved, you can't vote for them there. So I think, maybe if they had to 'survive' a semi-final first, this song might've been the winner in 2021.
