Reliquia - Rosalia
It’s the end of the year, which means it’s time for the annual "Best Of" lists. While this might not be my absolute number one, it is the album that made the most impact on me. It is truly mesmerizing; I suggest giving it several listens to let it sink in.
The track "Berghain" is pure concept. It’s a nod to the famous Berlin nightclub, and while it isn't a techno track, the mixing and mastering—heavily compressed and almost abrasive on high-end gear—perfectly mimics the relentless energy of a techno set.
However, for a truly representative track, I’ve picked "Reliquia." You know I’m a sucker for female vocals, and this is much easier on the ears than "Berghain." I don’t speak Spanish, but after working closely with the Spanish team at my company lately, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the culture (tapas included).
This album is a masterpiece. It has so many layers and demands your full attention. You can’t just shuffle one track here; you have to carve out a solid block of time to experience it. It’s the antithesis of the three-minute "banger garbage" optimized for radio and TikTok attention spans. Just listen to it, okay?
