Heavy Is the Crown

I've been enjoying Linkin Park in my teen days. The first songs: Numb, In the End. That era. Even some of the more recent stuff: What I've Done, Bleed It Out. And even more recent: The Catalyst. I really liked Chester's cameo appearance in Saw 3D (Or Saw 7 if you don't have a 3d enabled TV, aah, the 3d fad, so grateful it didn't really catch on, 3d don't work well for me, with my glasses). And I was shocked to hear that he died back in 2017. Linkin Park fell silent. There was just no way to replace Chester. I could not be done.

Until a couple months ago, I got this video in my YouTube feed:

I used to be a League of Legends player, and still occasionally follow it a bit, so I thought: cool! Linkin Park playing the opening. It starts off with their usual thing: A Linkin Park drumbeat, A Linkin Park guitar riff, A Linkin Park rap. Then suddenly: female Chester! If you can't replace Chester, then pick something completely different: female Chester! I really like the dynamic that this gives!

A new album: From Zero. Linkin Park literally rebuilding themselves from the ground up. A very good attempt, it just might work in the long run.

But I'll never forget Chester.
