Europapa - Joost Klein

Update Monday 13/05/2024:

I write these posts a few days in advance, so I don't actually have to write a single post every day. This way when I'm too busy or forget to write a post, at least something will come out. So of course, I wrote about Joost Klein, since he was (and actually still is) my favorite of all the contestants who were originally scheduled to perform during the finale of Eurovision.

But Joost got disqualified, never before seen in the Eurovision song contest! Which kinda makes everything I wrote outdated just like that. Yet I let the post go out that evening, and instead enjoyed the spectacle (and drama!) that night, and only now come back to my post and write a few afterthoughts.

Congratulations to Nemo/Switzerland! As you might remember they were my favorite in the first semifinals, and make for a well deserved winner!

Original post below:

I'm not waiting until the contest is over later tonight, I'm just going to post this here: Europapa is my winner for this year, fingers crossed Eurovision is coming to the Netherlands next year!

It's a catchy 'gabber' song, with stupid lyrics that actually hold a pretty deep meaning if you do some repeat listenings. I have been doing multiple repeat listenings: my 2 year old son constantly asks to put this song on so he can dance/jump to it. And I've heard there's other kids out there that like it as well, if only they'll be able to convince their parents to vote, then I'm sure Joost Klein will win tonight. Let's see how it goes!

And in the meanwhile: welcome to Europe! I'll see you all back next year with another edition of 'Eurosong week', starting tomorrow we'll continue our regular sheduling of one great song per day!
