All Nightmare Long - Metallica

Happy Saturday y'all! Little heavier today. Allow me to take you back to 2008. Allow me to introduce you to a little controversy in music: the peak of the loudness war!

During the 2000's music got louder and louder, and because of that details got lost in the mix, and this culminated in Metallica's 2008 album 'Death Magnetic', which got compressed to death and was so loud and had so little dynamic range that fans were outraged over it and it got a quick remaster in 2015 for iTunes which added in some dynamic range (which is also the version that's available on streaming platforms nowadays. If you want to hear the original loud version, search for it on Youtube, look for the CD, or stream it from Tidal, they still have it!)

Controversy for another reason as well. Metallica fans have always been divided into a pre black album era loving group and post black album loving group. I'm pretty new to the fanbase so I'm part of the latter. My first Metallica album was St. Anger, so the Metallica sound that I grew accustomed to was that sound and the sound that I like about them was that sound. For some reason All Nightmare Long sticks with me, the riffs just clicks, the lyrics click. And the riff just keeps going ALL NIGHTMARE LONG, and it keeps going LONG. One could say: all nightmare long.
